If you read my bio you will know I'm off on an awesome dirt bike adventure. My friends at FitRiders asked me to write about my North American dirt bike and fitness adventures while on the road. Unfortunately, I won't be riding until I get to Arizona in mid-November as the riding here in Florida consists of whooped out trails and bottomless sand, and the temperature today is pushing 32C and 100% humidity. My biggest goal for the next 3 weeks is to stay in shape and build more muscle for the upcoming epic riding.
As many of you know, it's not easy to get in shape and staying in shape is just as hard. I work at keeping my workouts fun and varied. I'm using what is around me - the picnic table, my bicycle and I brought my TRX suspension trainer, which I love. I'm also taking advantage of the local roller derby team to keep me active and take out my frustrations.
It's not necessary to do a lot of cardio to keep the weight off, it's keeping the muscle and building muscle that burns far more calories while at rest than any 30-minute cardio workout can accomplish. I hope you check out FitRiders to get in shape to build muscle and not only will you ride better you will look great and feel great as a result. I will throw out a few tips for staying in shape in my next blog that takes a measly 30 minutes a day and is geared to the challenges of riding. So, stay tuned and drop me a line if you have any questions. Happy riding and I'm off to the pool.
